How do I set up voicemail on my new iPhone?

I can't tap on the voicemail button in the phone section. When someone calls my number it says something like 'this user has not set up their voicemail'.

My carrier is AT&T.

Any suggestions?

luv you will need to call customer care so they can update their system for you to get your phone to recognize the visual voicemail. Once ATT does their thing and you restart your phone once you go into voicemail it will prompt for the set up!  Apple has been sending out phones that do not have the visual voicemail number set up in the phone .. its an easy fix though!
