Question:

How do I share a file between 2 computers?

I have a laptop and desktop, sometimes I have to email files to myself so that I can move files from one computer to the other. I am looking for an easier way. I am assuming I have to set up a network but know little about this. At school we have to connect to a network whenever we want to access files shared by all computers and users. I would like a file that can be accessed on both computers easily, one that if I put something in it on one computer it is also copied to the other computer. I do not want to have to go through a series of steps to connect to this network every time I want to use this file. Is there any way I can do this? Note: The laptop and computer are just connected through a wireless airport that is password protected.

  1. OR instead of your getting your *** suspended off the school network due to it's policy.

You can put a folder on your computer dedicated to streaming to the network. And you can put it in the folder. Then go to the other computer and then find it and put it on.

  2. you probably can copy the document onto a flash drive and then transfer it to the other laptop or computer.

  3. go buy an 8 gig usb drive for $20

  4. you could set up a home network and set up a file sharing file but for this there are many factors needed to be considered if you have anti virus protection it needs to be allowing sharing and the same for any firewalls .

    you could also google it

it can also be known as setting up a local area network (lan)

you could link them wired by using an rj45 cable also known as a network cable and could network them through a hub or from computer to computer

    hope this is helpfull advice

  5. I assume both computers are on the internet at your house which means they are already networked.  create a folder on one computer and afterward right click on it and under properties share the folder, give rights to everyone.  then on the other computer you can then browse to the share folder.  to do this from the run command it would look like this assuming my comptuer name is comptuer and the folder is shared as share

    \\computer\share

    it is that easy.

  6. you can either use a flash drive or one thing that i do is I file transfer through AIM. Just log on to AIM on both computers and drag the folder or file onto the chat box between the 2 computers.

This is a fast process because they are both connected to the same internet.

This is oviously not the easiest way but its the first thing that comes to mind and it works great
