I have toro sprinkler valves that have 4 screws on top of the cover. I had changed a sprinkler head and tried to test it by opening the bleed valve. When i closed the bleed valve it will not shut off unless I turn off the main water supply. when i turn on the water supply again the zone starts up again.

  1. They need to be refitted by a plumber.

  2. toro valves are hairy . take the butt of a screwdriver and keep tapping the valve ,moving around until you find the sweet spot .to avoid further trouble ,find a way to add alittle bleach to the line BEFORE THE VALVES. preferably ,if you have one ,into the top of the pump ,spigot. toro valves have lubricated solenoids and this will keep everything lubed up.

  3. make sure you have the bleed s***w in all the way snug.

toro valves are very finicky and low quality for that matter.

toro was good about 20 years ago. their newer stuff has slipped a good bit.

if you cannot fix it, replumb in a new valve.

use a Hunter or an irritrol vavle for the best quality.

good luck and hope this helps
