Question:

How do I sit at the bottom of a swimming pool without floating up?

've tried alot, but I can't physically sit at the bottom of the shallow end of a swimming pool without being forced upwards. I don't want to be using my arms to keep myself down, or holding onto something, I just wanna sit at the bottom like a cool dude watching the world go by.

I've tried taking a deep breath, going under and slowly exhaling bubbles from my nose and/or mouth, but nothing

I've tried simply not taking a breath and going down, but nothing

Can anybody please help?

I'm 16, average build and I like ham.

Thanks in advance.

  1. you have to let the air out of your lungs, thats why you keep floating up

  2. swim down that's what i do then i just kinda exhale and stay there

  3. First, let out all your air that you can. Then drop down to the bottom, and cross your legs. As you drop, keep releasing the air that you had left over, you should be able to stay on the bottom. Unfortunately, you won't be able to stay long with no oxygen, only a couple of seconds.

  4. its quite easy but you need to let out every bit of your breath.  then you want float upwards.  but then you dont have any oxygen in your body so you cant stay under for too long

  5. empty your lungs on the way down, and start by swimming down with your chest on the bottom???

  6. weights

  7. i dont think its possible unless you use weights or something. i mean, your body is full of air so, it will go up.

  8. your name is mohammed and you like ham? wow thats a first

  9. your body is less dense than water, so you cant really do it... but if you held something like a cinder block, u'd be able to stay down

  10. i think sitting crosslegged works and you could try to build up more muscle to weigh yourself down

  11. Breathe out before you dive.

  12. Attach weights to your feet ! ?

  13. its the air in your lungs thats not letting you stay down...think of your lungs like a balloon, if there's air in the balloon, and you try putting the balloon at the bottom of a pool, its just going to float up, just like you will.

take a breath and then when you get to the bottom of the pool, exhale until you stop floating up...

    p.s. try not to drown

  14. As you're going down, blow air out through your mouth or nose.  The more air you release, the better you sink.  However, this decreases the time you can spend underwater. I have the same problem, but this works for me.

Also, divers use weighted belts which help keep them underwater.  Not sure that's what you want, but it's another suggestion.

It could also be that you're simply too buoyant.

    Hope this helps
