  1. x+1 =5/2 and x+1=-5/2

    x=3/2 and x= -7/2

    C. is a partial answer

  2. Because it is absolute value there will be two answers.

    Set it up as two equations:

    x+1=(5/2) and x+1=(-5/2)

    Then solve.

  3. X+1 =5/2

    X+1=2 1/2

    X+1-1=2 1/2-1

    X=1 1/2 (or 3/2)

    Answer =D. None of the above

  4. |x + 1|  includes x+1 and -x-1

    x+1 = 5/2;  x =3/2

    -x-1 = 5/2;  x =-7/2

    So it looks like D is the answer because C is incomplete

  5. You have this equation:   lx+1l=5/2

    Then you'll have 2 new equations:

    x+1=5/2    and    x+1=-5/2

    The first one:

    x+1=5/2

    x=5/2-2/2

    x=3/2

    The second one:

    x+1=-5/2

    x=-5/2-2/2

    x=-7/2

    Both answer are correct: 3/2 and -7/2
