  1. y = mx + b is the equation of a line so

    y = how far up

    x = how far along

    m = Gradient or Slope (how steep the line is)

    b = the Y Intercept (where the line crosses the Y axis)

    distance = m(time) + b

  2. d=distance

    t=time

    d=mt+b

    where m and b are constants and d is dependent variable distance, t is the independent variable time.

  3. Y = mx+b

    seriously.

    Y = displacement

    X = time.

    m is some relation between distance and time.
