You purchase gel for the ultrasound machines in the hospital.

A 5 liter bottle costs $20.00

A case (12 tubes/case) of 250 milliliter tubes costs $19.50

Your department uses 15 liters per month.

Which one is the best deal and how much would you save?

  1. use your brain

  2. What the h**l does it matter.  When a patient comes in to have something done the d**n hospital charges for the whole d**n case.

  3. first, figure out each seperatly (down to $/unit)

    so first you would have to make both of them into the same unit. First you would have to figure out how many mL in total the second one would have, which would look like this:

    12x250=3000mL. since it is in mL and the other is in L, you would either have to change the 5L into 5000mL, or the 3000mL into 3L. In my opinion, it is easier to do the second one.

    So the 5 L for $20.00 would look like this:

    5/5=1

    $20.00/5=$4.00

    $4.00/L

    and the 12 tubes of 250mL for 19.50 would look like this:

    12x250=3000mL 3000/1000=3L

    3/3=1    $19.50/3=$6.50

    $6.50/L

    so then you would compare which is better, $4.00 or $6.50, so presuming they want the cheaper one, the answer would be 5L for $20.00
