Question:

How do I speed up switching the internet connection from my 360 to my laptop?

I connect my 360/laptop (whatever i'm using) directly from the modem with the help of a 10m ethernet cable. But when i'm switching, even though I do the typical "turn off, wait 45 seconds, turn on again" thing quite often i'm faced with the blinking 'ready' light as apposed to the non-blinking one indicating that it's working.

Is there any way to make this not happen, as at times it takes up to 20 minutes for me to get it to work. I understand WHY it doesn't, but what I don't understand is why it still happens when I take moves to stop it.

Thanks,

Paul

  1. Your best bet is to just buy a router.  This will allow you to connect two devices to your modem at one time.  If all of your devices are wired, they are very cheap.  Wireless routers are a bit more expensive, but still reasonable.

Also, the longer that you leave your modem plugged in, the faster it will run.  If you keep unplugging it and plugging something else in it will slow down the connection overall.
