I have a DV file that I downloaded from my digital video camera. It is a large file and I'd like to split it at a specific minute/second.

Is there free software that can do this for me without reencoding it? I tried VirtualDub, but it wanted to output the result in another format. I just want split the file into two without impacting the quality.

But you didn't tell us what kind of computer you are using.

Usually I stop helping at this point but as its nearly the weekend:

    Windows Movie Maker

or downlaod the free software from www.squared5.com
