How do I split a video file into 2 or 3?

Is there a way I can do that?

I just want to test it with an Anime episode ^^"

I think the file is AVI, I am doing this so I can switch it to WMV with Zamzar if possible or w/e, because the file itself is 250+MB

Virtual Dub Mod is a free video encoding program that has multiple uses. i especially use it to snag samples of video clips from DVDs and then split them with it too.
