How do I start a charity? I want to start a non-profit charity for animals.?

I would save every animal if I could, I have two dogs and five cats myself. My problem is I have no money to do so. I want to start a non-profit charity to save animals and put in good loving homes. I don't want to make money at all, but I don't know how to start a charity or If I need money to start one? Or the legal steps to go through? I live in a big city that keeps getting bigger, but we only have a humane society that puts animals down, I don't like that at all. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it, thankyou.

Also, you might try to contact a local charity near you and ask them questions about how their charity started. This will give you a sense of what they had to accomplish to establish their charity. Good luck!

Bless your heart. Your passion can be realized but it will take time. In the meantime, contact your shelter, to see if you can foster some orphan babies, give them a good start in life, or take in an abuse case and socialize. You cant save them all, but if you can save one then thats worth so much. Work hard save your money, buy some land, so that you can open a rescue, it may take 20 years, but it can happen.

Rather than start a new charity, which will require money for permits, licensing, administrative costs, etc.  Why not just volunteer to help an existing charity that fits your goals?  Try the humane society, ASPCA, or a local no-kill shelter.
