How do I start a good conversation with your friends on aim?

Everytime I go on AIM to talk to my friends, we always start by saying "Hi." "Hi." "What's up?" "Nothing much." And basically the entire conversation is over like that. It is a VERY boring "routine" in my case and I don't know what to say to them. I want to make the chat more exciting. And if I am the only one to do it then I will. But I need some very good advice from all of you. Please help. Much appreciated.

Like what are some good things I could say after "Nothing." to at least START an instantly great conversation.

Well, I normally talk bout school, games, or just random s**t.

Good way is youtube, talk about vids, and have eachother search for funny vids,always fun!!! I love doing that with my mates.

Guessing your a guy, sry if im wrong, talk bout girls. lol, I always talk bout hot girls at school with my mates.

Random c**p, sometimes, you and mates can just start up random conversations, like on the phone.

Play an online game together, that gives you stuff to talk about since your both online.

Latest Movies, maybe round up some friends and see one.

Depending on your friends, school. I always talk bout school.

Ill add more if I think of some. Think bout wht you and your buds are interested in, or wht you talk bout on the phone.

I love AIM, and its fun when talking to friends, so just start something up.

Yea, try to advoid whts up, you will always get not much!!

If they say not much, I normally just tell them wht going on with me, that always leaves into a conversation.

Try talking about TV shows that you watch, that they might watch.  You could be like, for example, "OMG did you see Project Runway last week?  Emily's dress was so ugly!" or something.  Or you could talk about new music videos I guess.  Something like "I hate that new p***y Cat Dolls music video, 'When I Grow Up,' they're only on TV because they have big b***s and wear skimpy outfits.  They're no-talent garbage."  Those are just a couple examples of good subjects to talk about, but as a general rule, try to avoid politics at all costs lol.

try talking aboutt things that you like, like tv shows, and music and stuff like that, even if it comes to gossip. It makes a fun conversation, then the conversation will take itself to better places. :)
