How do I start a site like Yahoo and Google?

Have an Idea and I belive it would be big like Google. I need to know how did Goolgle yahoo and all the other search engines started? What would it take to start from the bottom and work my way up ? How would I get companies to invest into my site?

I appreciate your ghuts for comparing yourself with a top brand!! keep it up... I hope you should one day become as such. Its a difficult thing to answer in this small forum.. but I will just give you an outline.

However, talking practically, you can't start a website like yahoo and google.. you can start your own search engine and get to that level... as an initiative, buy a domain name which really attracts the users. It should be a like ask.com, google, yahoo, etc., but not sentences . Build your own program for ranking the sites, results for keywords etc., its a big task... first hire a programmer who has some experience in similar field. Might be, you should hire some one from an existing search engines..

Maintain ''reality'' give easy rankings at the beginning and then keep changing it as you become popular...

there are programs out their that you and purchase and alter with programming language and thats the base of it.  As far as investors i would say you have to have a skeleton plan and outline of what the engine will do and then get a internet buzz about it.  My boss is making a product and has sold it before its even made just based off  buzz.  Marketing marketing ect...

Your questions would take too long to answer here in this forum. First, I would hire a programmer if you are not one yourself then I would hire an internet business consultant to get some god advice.

Well its not that hard, but the competition is very strong. But if you are going to start then you need to have something different that will attract people to your site otherwise you will just waste your time. Good luck

Hi,

In my opinion, the best kind of home business is one where you don't have to invest any money.  I wasted thousands of dollars buying into all kinds of home businesses including MLM and Internet franchises.

I was about to give up when I found a website that finally gave me the businesses I was looking for.  The company is called Keep Clicking.  Basicially, they have a big list of companies that have products.  They allow me to promote these products/services and I receive a set fee for each product that I sell (or lead that I generate).  I didn't pay any money to join (They actually pay you $10 to join, but only give it to you when you get $50 in your account.  It took me a month, so I got the $10 then).

This allows me to have a full business with no inventory. The best part is, a lot of these offers are free trials, so I get people to sign up for about $4 (for shipping), an I get about $17!  It doesn't matter if people cancel there subscriptions, I still get paid anyway.  I get paid monthly by check.

You could start a search engine. Unless you had tons and tons of money, which you haven't, it will be very slow and you will never make an impact on the big boys. Have a look at my website for some clues. http://www.ds32.com
