There's just way too much garbage out there and I feel like I can't find a decent start for learning about the stock market.

So how do I start?

  1. I recommend an online brokerage firm that has good beginner qualitys {like tutorials or an easy to understand set up}, i use zecco, better then schwab, etrade, etc. they are the only ones with free stock trades, no minumums..all the others will charge you fees for trading, but compare and see for yourself. Good luck and happy investing!

  2. This is a tough one.  There is no real easy way to go about this.  Basically it is to do your homework and read read read.

Check out the site in my sources for a longer discussion on starting points.

  3. This may sound sarcastic, but it is not...

Visit your local library and check out some "Trading For Dummies", "Learning About The Stock Market", type books.

Go to the Yahoo Finance Education pages and read through their Investing 101 articles.

Maybe get a job at a local investment firm.  Yep, you may have to start off by answering phones or working in the mail room... but, nonetheless you can pick the brain of the analysts that work there... and it is exposure.

    Good luck !

  4. Start with "The Little Book" series.  Very good knowledge explained simply, but not dumbed down.  The authors are also very well known for their investment knowledge. Boogle- the founder of Vanguard, Dorsey- Morningstar analyst, Browne, etc.

  5. The hard way - invest
