How do I start/stop Mozilla Firefox from saving recent searches?

I've been going to 'Tools, Options, Privacy' and then click on 'Remember what I enter in forms and the search bar' but when I have it checked, it still wont save my recent searches.

You are correct with what you are doing and it should work in all search boxes except the Yahoo Toolbar. The toolbar has its own method of saving searches.

Double clicking on any empty input field will show all items saved for it.
