I am suppose to write a 2 page essay, but instead of it being an argumentative essay that I'm great at! It's a umm I don't even know what kind of an essay this is. Our assignment was to read an essay and our purpose is to discuss the main ideas of how it was written. So she wants us to Illustrate who was the audience, how his format was, Our short essay should have an introductory paragraph, body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph. We need to use standard MLA format, I have no idea how to start it! Can any one help?

  1. you should call your teacher at home............did you listen in class?? or call a friend

  2. I get it. You can pretty much write an essay off the top of ur head, but now your teacher is asking you to do an analysis. Yeah that may be hard.

Because when you start, you didn't know how to start it.. like "man what's my intro suppose to be about?" right?

    Well like you said:

"Our assignment was to read an essay and our purpose is to discuss the main ideas of how it was written. So she wants us to Illustrate who was the audience, how his format was, "

I'd say.. you read that essay.. and I think you sort of critique it. Think about what is the main idea of the essay..what was that author trying to say.. who does he mean it to? to any reader? to politics? to students? to teachers? to families?... also.. how did he portray it...how did he get the message across...what style did u think he use to really convey wat he wants to say and make it effective.

I think that's what ur teacher wants u to get out of reading someone else's paper.

how after you figure that all out. when you write your paper.. think about it... u wanna make ur point.. ur point is "the author is tryin to say this in his essay" .. and bam! that's ur point.. that's what u'll present in ur intro. then the body... u pretty much use what u analyze from the essay.. like... i know this because...

and that's all u have to do. =) and da conclusion is pretty much summarizing everything u said.

    do u get it?

it's like talking. u read this essay. and i ask u "okay what was dat about?"

and u tell me da main point and u tell me how u know that's the main point. =) ...........(and if u wanna make it powerful.. pretend like i argue wid u like its not da main point, how will u use counterexamples to show me this is what his paper is all about!)

    so yeah,, ,hope that helps!!

  3. well take the main theme of the article (ex. prejudice, hope, or heroism) and for an opening line right the word: and the definition. Its a great opening sentence and grabs the attention of the reader.
