Question:

How do I stop Cell Phone interference?

I was on the phone with my best friend and I suddenly heard a mans voice say (through much static and not terribly clearly, but creepily all the same,) "Hello?". At first I wrote it off as some weird interference and that it wouldn't be a big deal but it kept happening, though not the same sound.

Sometimes it was a womans voice and sometimes a male. It was extremely unclear, but I could hear it enough to make me stop mid sentance and go "did you hear that?! omgosh." and freak her out. I am not easily creeped out, but this messed with me a little and scared her to death.

How can I keep it from happening so I can call her back in peace?

  1. There is no reason why someone else's cell phone cannot be on the same frequency as yours or your friend's and momentarily capture your cell channel if your or your friend's signal was marginal while you or she are moving around.  That's probably what happened.  The voting systems used to select the best signal from a handheld as received at a cell site work fast and seldom make a mistake but some of the earlier voting systems are slower and can make a mistake.  There is no way to absolutely prevent it from happening, but you can mitigate it by making sure that you and your friend position yourselves where there are the most signal strength bars and not do a lot of moving around into "dead" or nearly "dead" zones in your house or wherever you are.  When you or your friend move into a dead zone that gives someone else the right to capture your cell channel.
