  1. when you stop feeding him from the breast..

  2. When I was trying to stop the milk, it was recommended to just stop. The more you feed, the more you will produce. I had to use cold cabbage leaves to ease the pain.( Yes I'm serious) I asked my Dr and nowadays, they don't give anything to stop the milk. It took 3 or 4 days for it to stop, and it only really hurt for the first day.

  3. Just stop feeding him ..

Milk is produced on a Supply & Demand basis; the more he is demanding, the more is being supplied.

If he doesn't 'demand' breast milk because he is eating formula, your body will stop supplying it ..

You just have to be careful about 'Mastitis' from stopping too soon. Your ducts could get clogged ..

It's going to be painful for a few days while your breast let-down (after being engorged.) ..

.. just don't pump or feed him if you really want the milk to dry up, because everytime you express milk, you're going to produce more.

While you're leaking and 'letting-down' .. you should apply warm compresses (like a warm wash cloth) .. warm showers also work.

  4. Start weaning him slowly.  For example give him the breast only at breakfast and bedtime.  The rest of the day give him a bottle of either formula or breastmilk.

Slowly eliminate one feed at a time.
