  1. The secret to avoiding a static shock when you get out of a car is to touch and hold the door (just above the door window is a good place), until you are out of the car and your feet are on the floor outside.

Trust me, it does stop static shocks.

  2. A static charge is built up as the fabric of your clothes rubs against your car seat. By placing your hand on the car, or anything metal really when getting out, you will diffuse the static energy without shock.

  3. coz u get charged

  4. I was getting this even when I touched the fire guard, it was driving me nuts as I zapped myself with anything and everything. I have started to use fabric softener in all my washing and it's stopped. I guess if you think about it, when you take the clothes out of the dryer when you aren't using softener, they all cling together with static, which is electricity? So, it is working for me. Try it and see.

  5. The weather affects this so its worse during hot dry or cold dry weather. Of course you cannot do anything about the weather (except move) but its interesting to know.

The next cause is the fabric of the seats and carpets (mainly the seats) and also the clothes you wear. Avoid man made materials if possible. Wear cotton clothes and buy a car with leather seats. Static guard works well on the seats and carpets. Its common in the laundry sections of US stores but may be more limited in the UK. I have never been shocked from a car with leather seats.

Finally hold the key and touch it to the door catch as you exit. This creates the arc between the key and the door catch instead of you so you don't feel anything. I don't use my hand as mentioned above because you can get a shock off the car metal before you exit in bad conditions.

  6. remove the door and you'll never get shock again hahahaha No seriously. maybe your cloth have been attracting with too much plastic, and your cloth is somekind like really soft cotton? I use to have shock when I slide down the slide of those little kid. (COURSE I'M A GROWN UP) I was just playing around... omg it shocks so much since I was wearing shorts and no sleeve shirt dang it!... so I hope it helped

  7. You will just have to live with being hot stuff.
