Question:

How do I stop magazine subscriptions I didn't order?

Recently I've been receiving various bills and magazines I didn't order and each of them have my name spelled wrong. So far 4 different magazines have been sent and I've called and cancelled every subscription but I'm afraid that different subscriptions will continue to be sent. How do I track down who's sending them and stop the misuse of my identity? In addition, my friend has been having the same problem which began around the same time magazines were sent to my house and she lives on the same street. We both don't recall ever signing up for anything so I don't know how someone could have gotten our information. Please help!

  1. Go see the postmaster at your post office. Explain the situation and refuse any further delivery of the unordered magazines.

  2. That happened to me only once. What I did was to write a detailed letter to the magazine company. I told them that I had not ordered this magazine and the I wanted the subscription cancelled and stopped. They said they would cancel and that I would not get another bill. I never did get another bill, but got the magazines for about another 8 months!

  3. I once had this problem. I told the postmaster about it, and he told me to just cut off the cover with my address and write "Delivery Refused" on it to return to them.
