She says she isn't smart, when she gets the best grades in the class

She says she isn't talented when she plays the piano, sings, and is a brilliant artist (yes, quite brilliant)

I always deny what she says, but stubborn as she is, she doesn't agree...

What can I do?

  1. physiologist.

  2. tell her to stop being a debbie downer...

  3. Hopefully she doesn't offer to bash herself and she is just answering people.  Does she come along and offer self insults like, "Oh I am not worth anything", or "The world could do without me".  If she does then she needs help from a professional counselor and she needs encouragement.  If not and she is just responding to compliments like, "Wow are you smart!", or "I wish I were as talented as you!", compliments, then she is being modest.

  4. if she says something negative around you, try and maker her say something positive.

    Give her tough love.
