Hi, ive had a lot of trouble with my mouth while playing sports, first it started with me gagging when i wore my shortened fitted mouthguard while sparring in karate. Now i have another problem....i play basketball for school and when i start running around my mouth dries up and i cant get sliva in my mouth to moisten it. so when i breath though my mouth i get a bit of a tickle and i gag. so the main problem here is i cant moisten my dry mouth while playing becoz my sliva jus dries up.

ive thought of maybe using chewing gum so when i chew some saliva comes into my mouth.

  1. I know about this problem.

People will suggest you gum or sprays but those are just temporary.

The cause of the problem is that you don't drink much water a day. So it will automatically be solved if you drink as much water as you really need a day.

You can also consult your doctor...

  2. Don't try gum it could cause you to choke.  Make sure you force hydration before you play, more than you want to drink, and continue while you play.  Also try a nose band so you're not always breathing through your mouth.

  3. good i think about gum .. also try to close you mouth work on your breathing pattern

  4. I am thinking that gum is your best bet. I know that there is a spray moisturizer for your mouth I had it in the hospital but I don't know if you can get it over the counter.

  5. Drink water before, during, and after the game..

    Stop caffeine consumption.

  6. They have this... like h2o gum for athletes.

It's sour to keep your mouth moist while you play sports.

I think you can get it at any candy store, it's just like a gumball.

But yes, gum will help you.
