How do I stop my water bottle smelling?

I like to reuse a water bottle, filling it up from the filter or tap or whatever, and I always wash it after I use it, with hot water and soap- but it's started smelling! So obviously I'm going to buy a new bottle, but how can I stop that one smelling?!

  1. baking soda takes the smell form everything from smelly shoes to smelly refrigerator.  and it is in a lot of foods and so it won't make you sick.

  2. bleach

  3. Vinegar is a good natural cleaner..

My best advice, since you are going to purchase a new one is to make sure that in the future you don't leave it sealed all the time.  Leaving it sealed off will trap in heat and moisture which creates a perfect breeding ground for all sorts of things which ultimately will make the bottle smell bad.  Also, I would recommend that you leave it empty with the lid off at night so that any water and moisture gets a chance to dry out.

  4. I set mine in the sunshine for an hour with the lid off after I wash it. It never smells. White vinegar swished around in it and allowed to air dry will disinfect it and deodorize it. Once dried, the vinegar smell will be gone. There is bleach in the public water system to kill bacteria (about 1 tsp per gallon.) That is why it smells slightly chlorine like.

  5. Put some lemon juice or baking soda.  Either one of those should take away any funky smells.

  6. Use a new bottle everytime. Reusing is harmful to your health, believe me. You could always buy the packages of water bottles that come in packs of about 40, at your local Walmart, Costco or Sam's Club.

  7. Wash it with baking soda. My husband fills his with milk and it always smells like something has spoilt. I wash it out then pour some baking soda with water, rinse, and it smells like new.

  8. Get a new bottle

  9. Hold its nose.

Rinse with vinegar, then wash out the vinegar. Let it dry completely for a couple days.

  10. I've been told not to reuse them too much as it is unhygienic. But I freeze mine with the water in it, which not only gives me a cold drink all day, but it seems to stop the smell too. Give it a go! Hope this has helped! :-)

  11. Put a small amount of bleach in it when you wash
