Question:

How do I stop sleeping with my eyes half open?

My brother and sister tells me that I sleep with my eyes slightly open. I find this very weird and unusual, and quite embarrassing too. They tell me that the actual pupil of my eye cannot be seen when I sleep, so it's probably under the other half of the eyelid. Can you please give any suggestions on how to solve this problem? Thanks.

  1. some people do sleep like that.  As long as it doesn't bother you, don't worry about it.

  2. The only trouble this can cause is if your cornea is getting dried out. Sometimes the cornea is under your eyelid so it is not a big deal, But corneas can get dammaged over time if they are too dry at night. Just check with your eye doctor once a year and have them monitor it. Other than that, a lot of people do sleep with their eyes partly open, mostly in the first stages of sleep, you might close them more later.  For the better part, I do not think you can do much aside from sleeping with a face mask. You know, the kind they use to keep things dark? That works for some peole, or using special tape that will not hurt when you take it off, but unless your corneas are showing dammage, I really would not worry about it unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

  3. Tape them shut
