  1. There is NO way to stop the spam that is going on, but one thing you may consider..

Uncheck the Option that has you login to yahoo Messenger when you logg off-so Instead of logging in as soon as you log out of messenger, You can

SIGN IN to the SMS when you are ready.

If you are using your phone at work to chat with people an Idea is to check most of your messages online

    go to

    http://m.yahoo.com

    click on Messenger

and then check messages online first

then Sign into yahoo Messenger on your phone

    <Yahoo ID> IN

chat with your friend and then logout

It may seem like a hassle / sound confusing but this could help because when you are getting an SMS message from Yahoo you are actually just getting a message ok

There are other Messengers you can check also if you cannot get the yahoo front page

    http://ebuddy.com

here are some  SMS commands for yahoo messenger

    FunctionSMS Command

Sign in in [Yahoo! ID] [password]

    Sign out out

Send message to [Yahoo! ID] [message]

    to [friend code] [message]

    View online               friends get

    View all friends       get all

Show continuation of friend list (if list is longer than 160 characters and gets truncated) more

    Add friend      add [Yahoo! ID]

    Delete friend   del [Yahoo! ID]

    Ignore   a user ignore

If you happen to get a message use the IGNORE command  (same as a block online)

if you are unsure how this will work - try it... and this should cut down on your messages
