  1. I believe there is some sort of a government program in which you can enroll to remove all or the majority of junk mail.

  2. Instead of stopping the flow of junkmail why not take advantage of it. Go to the hardware store buy a bale of hay, a bucket and a  big tub. Fill the tub to just under half way with water and drill drainage holes into the bucket.  As you get the junkmail shred it up add it to the tub of water and mix in some of the hay. When the mix of paper pulp and hay resembles thick gluggy mud (may tak a couple of weeks worth of junkmail), Scoop it into the bucket and compact it down alowing the exess water to drain out through the holes. Ffter an hour or so turn the pulp out on to a rack to dry. Once dried it makes a very good fire brick. The addition of the hay add some very muck needed heavey fiber needed to make burning easier. If you want you can also add some scented oils to the block to add fragrance.

  3. If you live in the UK then you can go onto the mail preferencing service website and register your name and address, this will reduce the amount of junk mail you get by a huge amount, it did me anyway. If you live in the US then i dont know!

    Here's the link anyway!

    http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/

  4. there is NO Government program that you can sign up for, but most credit cards list a number that you can call to get off junk mail lists.

  5. To stop credit card offers, call 1-888-567-8688.

To stop other junk mail, send your name and address to:

    Mail Preference Service

    Direct Marketing Association

    P.O. Box 9008

    Farmingdale, NY 11735

This is voluntary, but members of the DMA will usually honor it.

  6. Having registered with MPS and put a sticker on my door (Free from East Sussex county council) I now make a point of:

    1. ringing up companies who send me junk mail especially estate agents and politely suggest that they ask their delivery agents to take notice of people's doors - and ensure my address is removed from any mailing list.

    2.  Sending back leaflets to whatever business sent them - without a stamp - they have to pay for receipt (use an old envelope to save the planet!!)

    2.  Chasing deliverers down the street and saying 'I don't want this! Please read the notice next time!!'

  7. Where I live we just put a notice/ sticker on the mail box that says NO Junk mail...Thank you!

It might not stop it all because they get  paid to deliver it.

Or you can request to the senders to remove you from their mailing lists.

Hope this helps....good look with it.
