How do I stop yahoo messenger alerts from coming to my cell phone?

When I got the new phone, I put my same yahoo ID on the phone as I use on my pc at home. Now, whenver I sign on or off the computer, I get stupid alert messages on the phone. I want to eliminate all notifications on the cell phone regarding yahoo messenger. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

in messenger, go to preferences and change the setting that makes it so you are automatically logged into your mobile when you log off your computer
