  1. put heat protechtion on it before you strighten you're hair.

well it depends on how thick you're hair is, if its really thick then the highest it can go if medium thickness about 8 or 6 and if you're hair is thin you can do 4

  2. Yes, you'll need to go a few things before straightening your hair. You'll want to use a shampoo and conditioner that is meant for smoothing and de-frizzing hair. Once you've done that, you apply a serum or leave in conditioner. That will make your hair smoother, protects it from the iron's heat, and helps make it stay smoother and straight longer.

(Unless you have a wet-to-dry flat iron...) Then, you blow dry your hair by sections. You should start from the hair at the bottom of your head, and work your way up your head. So grab a section, and if you have a round bristle brush, you'll want to blow dry that section while pulling your hair down with the brush. That should make it smoother. Then, put the flat iron as close as you can to your scalp (without burning yourself/scalp), and run it down the section of your hair followed by combing it. You may need to do this 1-3 times. Then you just repeat until your whole head is straightened.

Oh, and about the heat settings, if your hair is extremely curly, frizzy, and uncontrollable, put it on the highest setting. If it is just wavy, put it on the normal/medium setting. And last, if your hair is sort of straight with a few kinks or waves, use the low setting.

    Good luck, hope I helped!

  3. First off your hair should be completely 100% dry before you start, any moisture left can cause you hair to fry when you iron it.

I find that it works best if you work in thin layers, and about 1 inch wide sections.  The iron should glide down your hair with out snagging or a nasty sizzling sound.  If it is your first time, an iron with a comb attached is great help.

As, far a temp goes I would to some experimenting, start on a low setting and work your way up until you get the desired results.  The minimal about of heat needed is best since it causes less damage.

Try not to do it every day it you can and it would be smart to also purchase a thermal protecting spray, tresme makes a good one.
