How do I sue a guy who assaulted me?

Hi, I live in Toronto, Canada, and I have been assaulted by an individual. The police are still unsure what caused his unjustified behaviour, either drinking or drugs. I do not know what to do, however, I would like a compensation. The story is, he knocked on my door, staggering. I wanted to help him, so I open my door. As soon as I did so, he yelled and punched me in my face. He then tried to come into my apartment. I had to fight my way and close the door with great difficulty. Soon the firefighters came, and took him to a hospital.

The more I think about the incident, the angrier and frustrated I get.

What do I do?

See if they have some type of victims assistance program, or talk with family service advocate or victims crisis line for help and advice. Forgive  him, but know that God will deal with this. I wish you well, and peace be unto you.

i think you should eventully ask this indiviual why he had done it and if he doesnt remember you can prbal assume drugs or lots of alchol so yeah you shouldnt sue cause i mean one punch and try to get into house big deal now had he like mugged you broke some ribs and a nose then stole somethings then you coulde sue him for assult and battery and robbery

sueing is just another way to get money. also another form of greed. i personally think its rediculious unless he has seriously injured you, and it costs alot of money to help in which you do not have. we all need to be more Christ like and forgive and forget.
