How do I suggest a new company logo ?

My company is a 30 year old company with same logo. I wanted to suggust a new style of logo. Maybe even design it for them. Should I draw like different logos ( 5 to 10 designs) and show my boss and then he show the president of the company ? I think it would give eveyone at the job a huge sense of pride if a new age logo is designed for the company. Maybe I could even get a bonus for even designing it. What do you guys thiink ? Well, I think rather than designing logo of its own you should hire a good logo design firm which could give you an exclusive logo design for your company.

Otherwise after sometime you will think of changing it. This will cost hire than the cost you hired any logo design company now. I am going to suggest a company which can give you best results.
