How do I survive my football conditioning?

Ok so I recently joined a youth football league. Every practice goes great until we have to condition at the end. We run 100 yards twice then we get a 5 minute break. We do that four times then we're done. But my couch always wants me to be first. If I slow down I have to do the thing all over again. He's a screamer and always pressures me and I always feel so pressured. Anyway I can survive this conditioning?

  1. It will get easier with time.  You need to understand that coaches are like that.  If they were easy on you, that's all you would do.

Every day you run will be easier than the last.  And don't forget, you are at the youth level.  Right now, my 15 yr old is in his 3rd day of 'two a days' where they have intensive training on runs, routes, tackles.  He is 5'10" and about 145 and he's the fullback when they run against 1st string defense.  He is getting JACKED UP by seniors that are 230 lbs!  He has bruises all over him (which I'm not happy about but oh well, it is football) and he comes home and takes his advil...but you know what, he'll be back tomorrow and then on Friday and then all next week!

You have to remember this is making you stronger!

  2. If you survive you are lucky....it doesn't matter how skilled you are if you live your lucky....but you might come out with missing limbs.

  3. i know a bunch of ppl have said this but you just GOTTA get it done man. coaches are a******s during the first few weeks before the first game cuz usually they are stressed and uptight about how soon the first game is and how much you guys have to work on...just get through it...toughin up... and get em buck!

  4. you might think it hurt, but in the longrun it will make you better, so just hang in there

  5. It will get better over time.  keep on pushin..

    coaches are jerks!

  6. Man up!!!!!!     You're gonna feel like you're gonna die and want to quit but it all ends. I cant play anymore and I would go through triples and conditioning all over again to play one game and hit someone.

  7. Good Coach! He wants you to be first because he probably feels that you should be finishing first. Suck it up or quit playing! Football is not for the weak!

  8. U gotta be tough, never give up, u gotta have that mentality where pain and tiredness just don't mean nothing.

Make sure you get your rest outisde of practice, make sure you eat well, keep hydrated, work on your conditioning on your own time, and just understand that dude ain't yelling at you so he can be a better athlete, he's doing it so you are better.

You should want to be first everytime, second place is first loser
