  1. Take the title and go to the DMV and have it transfered into the buyers name.  They will pay all of the fees.  DO NOT just give the title to the new owner and let them go at their leisure.  If the person decides to drive the vehicle without proper insurance and registration, the car will still come back to you in the computer and you might be on the hook for fees and legal litigation on a car you sold to someone else.  MAKE SURE THE TITLE IS TRANSFERED.

  2. On the back of the Title of Ownership (the pink slip) there is a form to fill out and file with the DMV and the name, or title of the car can be changed to your name.

  3. You and the new owner need to take title down to the DMV, sign it over to whoever is going to be the new owner.  They will process the paperwork to transfer title and send the new title to the new owner.

New owner get to pay the taxes and fees.

  4. Have the seller sign the back of the title where it says "seller" You fill out & sighn the back of the title where it says "new owner" Take it to DMV.
