How do I sync my Palm Treo 700p with my Palm Desktop on the computer?

I have Windows Vista. I just purchased a Palm 700p on eBay and it works great, no problems, activated and everything. The only thing I am having a hard time with is HotSync and getting it to sync with my phone. Now, since it is a refurb, I didn't get the disc that really comes with it, but I downloaded Palm Desktop off the Palm website. I have already got all my contacts in there and everything. When I go to plug the 2 together, HotSync for some reason doesn't do what it's supposed to. Can someone tell me (step-by-step) what I should be doing in order to get it to work?

STL E-ROCK, I haven't had any issues with my Palm TREO 700p.

The usb cord that connects your phone to your computer has a button, did you press it?

Also, on your main menu screen look for the hot sync icon and open it.

Last, did you install the correct software of the internet? You might have to restart your pc.
