Question:

How do I sync my iPod onto a new computer when my old computer is gone, and I don't want my iPod stuff erased?

Recently, my computer's old hard drive overheated. This erased every bit of data on the hard drive, and my iTunes library. Since then, I've started up a new computer.

I'm about to download iTunes for my new computer, but apparently, your iPod has to delete everything within itself to sync to the new computer. Obviously, this is problematic as that would defeat the whole point of me getting iTunes on this computer - so I can update my playlists and add new songs.

I've heard of transfer shareware from iPod to computer, but they cost money to buy.

I also do not use Limewire - I heard it gives viruses, and even if it doesn't, it's obviously illegal.

Are there any other alternatives? Note that due to my old computer having been burnt out, I cannot manually transfer my songs. My iPod is pretty much the sole carrier of all my songs now.

  1. plug in your ipod and restore it

  2. itune blocks this function since itune is the tool with one way to transfer files from itune to ipod. you must utilize other tools to achieve that. There're couple of tools for transferring the files between ipod and computer (for backup)depends on your demands, e.g transfer only songs/videos, transfer photos etc. You can have a look of below review site, hope it useful.

  3. I know a professional iPod Transfer program. It will help you transfer songs, movies, photos from iPod to iPod, iTunes to iPod, iPod to computer local disk. And its step by step guide is also helpful.

  4. you can look for ipod freeware through google. there are some things that work with PCs, although most are mac compatible. don't ever use "tune tools". it wiped my iPod clean and left me out in the dark. with no music.
