How do I take apart the crank on my bicycle?

Im not very bike savvy(obviously), but it LOOKS like it has a 2 piece crank. Also, i cant figure out how to get the chain off either. Its kind of old and rusty, so things may just be stuck, but i got one pedal off and the other just wont move. HELP!

You may need a crank removal tool if you have the square tapered shaft crank.

Some chains have a master link (SRAM for example). Others, like Shimano, have a replaceable chain pin. Get the SRAM version, it is easier to install.
