  1. I've nver had a caterpillar before but i'd make sure that it has lots of fresh leaves to eat every second day.

Knowing me i'd poke it to make sure it's alive but fresh leaves and i assume it needs water so i'd spray the leaves with fresh water so that it can eat the leaves and drink at the same time.

    Hope this helps.

  2. hahah put it in a fish tank full of water (drink) leaves (food) and branches (home) so it can resemble as if its on a tree.

  3. ask a scientist

  4. To my knowledge of finding wild caterpillars that's a regular sized caterpillar. Caterpillars don't make great pets. First of all you have to be VERY gentle with the caterpillar for they bruise easily, it's also not a good idea to touch the caterpillar because the hairs on the skin break easily and cause skin irritation. Put it into a clean dry jar with sand at the bottom and punch some holes in the lid. You can feed it flower petals and bits of apples, or the leaves from the plant it was found on. To give the caterpillar water dip a few leaves into water and put them into the jar with it. Every other day remove droppings from the sand and provide fresh food. Eventually the caterpillar will go into a cacoon also known as pupating. If it's not infected with parasitoids it will eventually turn into a moth or butterfly. It could take any where from two weeks to two years for it to turn into an adult (aka butterfly). If the caterpillar is infected with parasitoids flies or wasps will emerge from the pupa. The flies or wasps had been eggs that were laid inside or on the caterpillar and once hatching will eat the caterpillar from the inside out. Really, overall caterpillars don't make great pets. I'd recommend releasing it.
