my daughter is almost 2 and still breastfeeding. Her schedule is once for afternoon nap and once at bedtime. She uses a sippy cup but only drinks OJ w/ calcium; flavored milk occasionally. She eats alot of good solid food also. I need her off though but she is so attached. I want to work and start nursing school for her but it's hard. Any GOOD advices?

  1. both my kids were wean from breast and bottle by the time they were 1 so i really didn't know an exact answer. i googled "how to wean a 2 yr old from breastfeeding" and all the results said basically the same thing. tell your daughter she's a big girl now and it's time for her to drink from a cup only.  wear clothing in which she cannot get access to your b*****s.  if she complains, give her a cup with milk or juice.  she's old enough to understand no.

  2. the first girl is CORRECT.... its hard, but TRUE!

  3. Aw this is soo hard! I had to stop with mine when they were 2 as well. How can you tell a 2 year old "No" they can't have their comfort? That is way too hard for both of you. The way I succeeded was to put a horrible tasting substance on my nipples (I used child friendly nail biting solution as it is so disgusting yet invisible, but you could also use something like mustard) They were then able to make their own descision that breast was now yucky to drink. I thought it was important to still let them cuddle up and put their cheek on my breast if they wanted to, so they knew mummys cuddles were still there. I only had to do it for a couple of days at the most and experienced very little difficulty. Hope this helps.

  4. It's not her--IT'S YOU!!  Keep your blouse buttoned and tell her and yourself--NO!!
