The ignition seems loose it got stuck and fried the starter because it would not shut off.

  1. Your question is a little vague, but it sounds like you need a new ignition tumbler. Probably a loose/broken spring inside. You can take the ignition tumbler out fairly easily. I would not recommend taking it apart because they can be a b**** to put back together.

  2. you could have a sticking starter relay.

  3. The ignition key is not the problem. The ignition switch is not likely to be the cause. It is possible that the ignition switch is sticking in the start position, but I have NEVER heard of such a problem in 40 years of driving!

If the starter will not disengage after the engine is started, then it is a starter solenoid problem.

You say the starter is fried. When the starter is replaced,  the new starter will come with a new solenoid.

The new starter will last longer if you never try to crank the engine more than 20 seconds at a time. If the engine does not start in 20 seconds, stop cranking and wait at least 2 minutes before trying again.

  4. just turn the key to where it says off and remove the key.sounds like you need an ignition switch.
