How do I take pictures of glass bottles in display cases?

When I do take them with the flash, it comes back at me. When I don't use the flash, and I use a bright light in the room...the pics aren't very good either.

  1. Make sure the light isn't behind the glass or above it. Make sure if you are going to use light that it is behind your camera.

If you use bright light in behind the glass the light will reflect on the lense of your camera and you will get c**p pics.

  2. try in the sun or try to break the glass!

and why would you take a pic of a bottle anyway?

  3. Try putting the light from under and center the glass

Try Lowering the ISO and using manual settings

Try a tripod and a longer exposure

  4. Are you shining the light directly at the bottles?  Can you somehow shine the light from above the bottles and see how that looks? Or can you shine the light on to a mirror and have it set at an angle that it gives off diffused light to the bottles?

  5. Get a polarizing filter.

  6. Stand to the left or right of the bottle.

Use a polarizing filter, or put something black in front of the reflections that you get from the glass, at the opposite angle from which you are standing.

  7. mabey try getting a a person to dim the light and do it without flash but it has to be dimmed so you'll have enough light for the pic but not too much

man this is like a duplecit of stump-the-chump on car-tlak on NPR

  8. Slow shutter speed- they're not moving!

(If you're getting camera shake- lean against a wall, put the camera down & use a timer or get a tripod)

If the display case is glass fronted- use a polarising filter- it'll eliminate any reflections.

  9. Don't take your pictures from straight on to the glass; take them from an angle.  If you are aligned to the glass, the flash reflection will come back at you.  If you are off-angle, it won't.  If possible, open the glass door, if not, shoot from an off-angle.

  11. try in the sun
