I am trying to remove the radio I got installed a year ago by myself to send in for a warranty issue but I am not sure how to remove the dash on my truck to take it out. If someone can direct me that would be wonderful. Thanks GregK

  1. You should be able to grasp the trim panel that goes around the radio and climate control panel and carefully pull it straight back away from the radio and it should pop off, unplug the wires and set it aside.  After that there are 4 screws that hold the audio unit to the instrument panel, remove them, unhook the wires and antenna and the radio should be free.  I included the Ford directions but they are pretty vague.

    Removal and Installation

NOTE: If installing a new navigation audio unit, remove the navigation digital versatile disc (DVD) if possible, before sending the audio unit to an authorized audio system repair facility.

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the audio unit to retrieve the part number. For additional information, refer to Audio Unit Part Number Retrieval in this section.

Remove the instrument panel center finish panel.

    Disconnect the electrical connectors.

Remove the 4 screws and the audio unit.

Disconnect the electrical connectors and the antenna cable.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
