How do I teach my kid an easy way to remember direction ? North, South, East and West?

I do this myself. In the morning, the sun is rising in the east, so if I face the east, I know the west is behind me, and the north is to my left, the south is on my right. Or if youre just trying to get him/her to understand the concept, get out a map of the US and just drill it in.

Make a song and a dance out of it.  Jump to North, than jump to the South than West and East.

Santa lives in the north pole, so he has to go from the north to south (downwards) to give us all presents
