How do I teach my super small dog to lie down. ?

When I try to use the treat pulling to the floor method he can get is without lying down because he's already so close to the ground. What do I do?

  1. Break the treat into smaller bits and hold the piece of treat very firmly between your thumb and finger until the dog lies down, then let him have the treat. If he is a super small dog he should have super small treats anyways.

  3. You will need to first teach your puppy to sit. Now you will have to get down on the floor with these small dogs. While he is in the sitting position put your hand/arm in behind his two front legs, gently push the legs forward and with your other hand push down between the shoulder area (just below the neck) with the command "drop". Praise and reward. Repeat the excercise. Never and i repeat never use any force, everything is done gently. It is only a matter of getting the dog in the right 'drop' position.Once this is achieved you can teach your dog to "drop" from a standing position by using the same method but being smarter than we think they are he will pick this up easily once he understands the command.
