  1. sounds like your being paranoid

  2. go to router config page

and look for connected host on network.

check if you can find any host who is not identified.

    record his physical adress .

If you know router make.let me know

tell you exacly where to look.

  3. if it's secure with a wep key or better then u should be ok, isp's tend to be more busier at weekends so maybe that's why it's slow, i wouldn't worry to much

  4. well, if your network suddenly slows down it is possible. but if you are sure you need a password to use your network then it is quite unlikely.  i think it is just some kind of other problem that will probably repair itself soon.

  5. You can see if someone is connected to your router by looking at the connection status in your router software (it depends on the router as to how you do that but it will be in your router manual if you don't know how).

You should be able to see all the devices connected.

As to how you would see whether someone TRIED to connect, I'm not sure, but it wouldn't matter anyway.

  6. go on to http://www.ip-adress.com/ and copy your IP address and paste it into your browser this will show the settings for your router and there it will show you who is connected to it

  7. If you have windows vista, or XP go into start, then run, and type in CMD, then in the window that comes up, type in /ipconfig.

it should give u a lil website to go to, which you put in in ur internet explorer, or whatever browser you use. That brings up a control panel for your router. From there you  should be able to see all the computers currently connected to this connection.

All routers are different, so i cant guide your steps there tho.

    Best of luck

  8. If you think someone is using your wireless then just turn off the modem for a while

If you want to see who is using your wireless network enter 'cmd' into the run commands and enter text 'netview' and press enter, if nothing shows then its clear.

  9. It depends on your router but if you got to the ip address of the router (it should be on the base in the form http://x*x.x*x.x.x ) and log in (default pass is admin / password) and go to "attached devices" it will tell you all the devices that are connected to the router at that time.

It will give you the MAC address which means nothing to non comp sci people, but if you at home have 3 computers connected, and their are 4 on the list you know someone else is hacking your network.

In your router settings you will also be able to set up an access list, so that if your neighbour is stealing your broadband you can make sure he cant in the future.

Internet gets overloaded at peak times, early evening, weekends so this can slow it down from time to time, along with other things.
