Question:

How do I tell if my gerbils are fighting or playing?

We bought a male gerbil last week and then I read a book about them that said how social they are and not to keep them alone, but that it's hard to introduce new ones, so we went back to the pet store and bought another male gerbile from the same litter that had been kept in the same tank before we bought them together but they seem to be either fighting or playing really rough. How do you tell the difference? One of them jumped on the other and looked like he was holding him down on the ground by his neck on his back. One has been sleeping in the house for today and the other one sleeps next to the wheel, shouldn't they both be sleeping in the house? Is one not letting the other one in?
