Question:

How do I tell my mom she's not 20?!!

My mom is 46 years old. I think she is very good looking for her age but the way she dresses is how a 20yr old would. She wears extremely tight skinny jeans, tight tank tops, flats and heavy jewelry. She's single and is looking to date but I wish she'd wear more age appropriate clothing... maybe straight jeans, or a more formal top?

How do I tell her this without sounding mean?

  1. Tell her that her future son-in-law is freaked out that by the time you're 46 you might also still dress like you're 20 and I'll look like an old man. And that might lead to you going off and finding some hot fresh younger guy to replace me.

  2. if you are close to your mom then tell her that you are not

    comfortable with her wannabe20 look.

tell her gently letting her know that yes she has a terrific

figure and looks good but you don't want her laughed

at out in public tell her there are still really cool styles

but what she is wearing is making her look cheap

  3. Don't say anything. When you're her age, you're not going to want some twenty-something telling you that you're too old to wear something that you like. If she has the body to wear the clothing, then GO MOM!!! I have a 59 year-old aunt (widow) who now has a tattoo (for the first time in her life), a new boyfriend who appears to love her, and wears the clothes you're describing. She's also dying of cancer. Her daughters make her life very difficult. I say "live and let live".

  4. Please just let her do what makes her happy. You are going to miss her when she is gone, just let her have fun.

  5. just tell her you don't feel comfortable with it and men her age want a woman to settle down with not a fling a young 20 year old would :]]]

please answer mine. i'd really appreciate it

  6. It kind of sound like an episode of True Life...It was one about having parents embarrass you (in case you want to check that out).

Anyway, tell her to her face. That it makes you uncomfortable when she dresses like that. Make sure that she understands that now it is your time to wear those kind of clothes, if it all. Your mother's main concern should be her family not appearance, not that she does not have the right to feel good in her skin. Next time you go shopping suggest some clothes that you think are a little more appropriate.
