Question:

How do I tell my mom to stop telling me the same things over and over?

When she tells me a story, she repeats details 4-5 times before even finishing the story. She also explains things that she told me yesterday, or two days ago or whenever. She's a great storyteller and a wonderful person but I constantly have to say, "I know" and "You told me that already." I can't even get a word in because she's too busy repeating what she's already told me. She's a sensitive person so I need new ways of explaining to her to that it's terribly annoying when she repeats things, and that I only need to be told a specific detail one time. Anyone creative with words or had a similar pet peeve? Thanks in advance.

  1. I don't know, my mom has the exact same problem. I think it's just that she's getting older, cause she never used to do that, not even a year or two ago, but in the past 6-8 months she's suddenly started telling me things five or six times, and asking the same questions literally every day about something specific that happened (like she got this brilliant new idea, but it isn't new, she's had it a lot before, she's just forgottenit a lot too).

  2. lol, mothers never stop nagging, it's like built in their systems~

say something like "mom, i love you and everything, but can you stop repeating things? i mean, i love to hear you talk, but i would love to hear new things instead"
