I really want to be an actress but I have no idea how to tell my parents. I know that it costs a lot of money and I would have to travel a lot, but I would love to be famous and I can't get started without them. Everybody says to get an agent, and I can't afford one as a 13-year old! Please help me! I know that all of the things that we would have to do would pay off in the future. I just don't know if they'll take me seriously. Please, please help me!

  1. just go and tell them, and also start looking into the drama dept. at you school, maybe that will help. good luck.

  2. just tell them they are your parents and I am sure they will saport you and whatever you want to do!

  3. Just talk to your parents about it, bring it up at dinner.  They won't hurt you, I promise.  I remember when I decided that I wanted to major in Theatre instead of Engineering and completely freaked out and didn't tell my parents until after I'd already made an appointment for them to discuss it with my Theatre/Choir teacher.  Tell them why you want to do it and what they can do to help you, even if it's just starting small and performing in community theatre productions and local films.  Do as much as possible at school and maybe even talk to your teachers about starting a Drama Club.  Don't wait any longer to talk to your parents about it, but make sure that you're prepared and ready...maybe even write down points that you definitely want to bring up when you talk to them about it.  You don't need an agent right away (you can take classes and be in productions gaining valuable experience anyway), but you need all the support that you can get from your parents!

  4. Okay, I'm assuming by "actress" you really mean movie star.

I'd start by saying, "Mom, Dad, I really want to be a famous actress."

Then, talk it out with them from there. Be serious and mature. Prove to them you really want it and are willing to work hard.

  5. I want to become and actress too! Just start the converstion like, "mom what did you want to be when you were my age?" and then after she talks then you say that you want to be an actress.  And ask if you can audition for things and take acting classes to prove that you really want this!! Good Luck!!

  6. You don't have to pay for an agent. Before you do anything though you need to get some acting experience- theater. You have to do community theater and classes and when your parents see how dedicated you are you can talk to them about getting an agent- which does not mean being famous.

  7. Leave out the word "famous" for starters.  It's the discipline and the pursuit of the craft that will impress them.  It sounds more like you just want to be famous, and that's not a career goal, it's a side-effect.
