How do I tell my parents that im a happy emo?

Im not like cutting my wrists or anything. But I don't know how to tell them please help me. I mean i enjoy music from korn and like black clothes. How do I tell my folks that I love all this? Help me please...

If you can describe it better on paper write them a letter if not sit them down and explain change is what makes us all different and for now this is what you like.  Who knows next yr. you may like something different.  Ask them to please accept this.  IF they say no ask them why.  I am sure they embarrass you  by things they do so if they say no this would be the time to tell them the things they do you dont like.

Okay, here's the thing; They are never really gonna understand the style, not at all. It's difficult to explain to your parents that you don't cut.

Just try what you did for this Q. Explain it exactly like this, only outloud and too your parents. It's difficult, I've been through the same thing, but it's worth it when your folks aren't checking my wrists every half hour!! :P

Just tell them that you like the music and you like the clothes, but that you don't cut or do anything bad. Tell them that they have every right to try and protect you, but you'll still be yourself, and even when they're suspicious, you'll still be 'emo'.

well first of i dont realy think listening to korn and wearing black is emo so dont tell your parents that lol unfortunatly adults are stupid before you say wt f let me explain most adults arent will to expand their mindframe to grasp something like what you want to tell them but teens can do this i think you should tell your parents hey im your child right and your supposed to love me unconditionally right well love this okay i listen to music that you may not like so much but hey you still love me right right and hey i like to wear black but that doesnt change that im your child right right so you dont have a problem with this right because if you do i dont understand why you would because im your kid i love you you love me so its all good this is not the only way to tell them but it is a good way just to like keep reminding them hey you birthed me so you have to love me then theyll get it unless your parents hate you or something in that case im sorry get someone to call cps

Your parents, sadly, might not grasp what you are trying to tell them. Despite how good you represent your case, all they will see is "black clothes. scary music. suicide." associated with emo. Your parents fear what they dont understand and the last thing they want is to see you get hurt or fall into a world of drugs. YOU know your limits, but your parents think that you are too young to understand yourself, so they are trying to save you from yourself. Endure, or keep trying (maybe have a teacher write them a letter about how good you are?). Those are your only options. Good luck :)
