How do I tell the difference between flour and pancake mix? HELP!?

my husband made homemade pancake mix and put it in one canister and flour in the other. He forgot to label them though! I tried to figure it out myself but I am just NOT sure. One has baking powder, baking soda, salt [i think that's it] in it. Is there a test or something I can do to tell the difference? I have a cake to make and I am freaking out because I don't have time to go to the store and buy more flour!

  1. Well the pancake mix should be a little bit more brown and the flower

should seem more white than the other...also  pancake mix should

be a little chunkier!...That should help?

  2. The pancake mix should be a bit darker in color and grainier, not as smoothe.  If all else fails, taste it...the PC mix will be saltier and the flour almost tastless.

  3. Since they look identical you could take 1/2 cup out of one of the bins, add 1/2 cup milk, fry it up and see if it makes a decent little pancake.  If it doesn't, that one is flour.

  4. Taste it.  Flour will be bland.  Pancake mix will taste saltier and you'll be able to taste the sharp flavor of the baking powder and baking soda that's in it.

    This is foolproof.

  5. The pancake mix smells more sweet lol
