How do I tell the gender of my cockatoo?

um its a white cockatoo its not old and it has like feathers on the sides of its beak that remind me allot of cheaks

  1. You should be able to tell the s*x of a white cockatoo from its eye colour.

    A male will have black eyes and a female will have brown eyes.

    With black cockatoos you can usually tell from the plumage- most have very different markings.

    In galahs, a male will have brown eyes and a female will have pink eyes.

    I know that you need to dna s*x Major Mitchell cockatoos, but im not sure if there are any other cockatoos that are monomorphic. Most do have slight differences in appearance.


  2. some birds you can tell male from female by the color of the bird usually the brighter prettier in colors is a male but some birds you need to have DNA test done or just wait a few years if you have a empty egg in the cage well you got your self a female ( yes empty egg aka hollow) hope this helps  

  3. i know with alot of birds you can tell when they get older because the males talk more than females....hope it helps thats all i can think about

  4. You will have to have the bird DNA sexed. You can order the kit online, but I suggest going to an Avian Vet to have it done.
